Okay, I seriously need to start watching show.

My dash is always full of Destiel…

And I have learned just from tumblr that Cas and Dean are meant to be with each other, and I ship the hell out of them without ever having watched an episode…

My question is, exactly how canon is it?

If I start watching this show, will my heart slowly break inside?

Like it does when I watch my other OTPs as they are pulled apart by the writing/kicking off of characters/general screwed-up-ary that leads to my OTP pains?

I’m not sure my heart can take the risk of watching this show.

Let me be honest with you here.

Castiel doesn’t show up until season 4 (but oh what an entrance he makes.) The first three seasons are wonderful, but there was a marked improvement in my point of view once Cas enters the fray.

Season 4 and 5 are magical. The Dean/Cas bond is profund and wonderful, and even though the world is ending, nothing hurts.

Season 6 is….painful. Very…..very…..very painful. It’s rather akin to being punched in the soul for 23 episodes.  The world is ending, again, and EVERYTHING, absolutely fucking EVERYTHING hurts.

Season 7 is….if possible…maybe worse, but there is less Cas around over all, so its almost as though you can forget how much it hurts at times. Except when Cas is there, it’s like ripping off a scab and bleeding again.

But, season 7 does end on a high note. So…take some comfort in that, I suppose.

I understand you Destiel people here, but if a girl wants to start watching the show, let’s give her full image of it, shall we?

I’ve read the reblogs here. All of them are from Destiel people and all of them describie SPN like it starts and ends at Cass. It’s not. I love Castiel with all my heart and soul but he’s showing up in season four. Three previous seasons actually also do exist. And the point of view depends from where you’re standing. Because when I entered the world of Supernatural, I couldn’t believe they can put ANY new character and keep the plot and characterisation at the constant, fantastical level. For the few first episodes of season 4 I actually hated Cas. I probably saw some kind of threat for the Winchester integrity in him or something…  Now I love Cas to guts and Destiel is probably the most canonic of my OTPs, although seasons 1-2 still are my favourites when it comes to the plot.

Generally speaking, you shouldn’t watch the show just for Destiel. Because this show doesn’t start and doesn’t end at Destiel. Yes, it has its major contribution in seasons 4-6, but the show isn’t originally about Dean and Cas, and please Destiel fans don’t forget that. Sometimes I feel like half of the people on tumblr who don’t watch SPN think this show consists only of angel/hunter gay subtext. I find so much more valuable things in this show, so please don’t focus only on your favourite ships.
